Alleged Stalker Asked: 'However Imagine I Am Madeleine?'
A female charged with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly left her a voicemail message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has persistently asserted she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.
On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and data obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test over the past two years.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported child disappearance cases and is still open.
'I Do Not Need Money'
Another voicemail, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm fat and plain like Madeleine used to be, but I know what I believe."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording said: "Imagine there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Wouldn't that be important for you?"
"I don't want money, I have a living here in Poland, I just want to know," the message continued.
The tribunal was informed that through electronic messages, mobile messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, transmitted childhood photos to her phone in a bid to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a early life with the McCanns.
Robert Jones, an investigator with the police force who gathered the information, informed the court there "showed no any answers" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt also contacted close associates of the McCanns, according to the call data.
On October 9th, 2024, the father responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "the wrong phone."
That day Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's voicemail saying "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my position."
The court learned Mrs Spragg established a relationship online with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' property in the county in last December.
Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had contacted using messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she should be taken seriously in the period before the visit to the village, the county, in last December.
The court learned correspondence between the two individuals, in November 2024, considering endeavoring to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from cutlery at a dining venue.
"We have to assert ourselves," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.
On the night of the trip to their house, the defendant dispatched a text which stated: "We're currently sitting near the McCanns' residence with our lights out resembling detectives. I desired to accomplish this with someone else I never thought I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
The proceedings ongoing.
