Just as the recent storm tore through the north-west the previous evening, City overwhelmed United away at the Etihad. It was a emphatic three goal win for Andrée Jeglertz’s side owing to goals from Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that firmly established their title credentials as they strengthened their place at the WSL pinnacle.

Back-to-Back Setbacks for United

This result marked successive Women's Super League setbacks for Skinner's side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, putting them a significant margin off the table toppers with their trophy ambitions severely dented.
