Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's ten-game winless start to the Premier League season.

And both candidates - each of whom have previous links to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town manager - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a leading contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club directors as they start the search of hiring a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock appointment considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to provide any compensation.
